Ah, the terms and conditions page (AKA the privacy page), where plain English is thrown out the window in exchange for what feels impressive and formal (the sort of language one would expect from a $230,000 education). There’s a whole lot of lawyerspeak occurring below. Want to know what it means in plain English? Too easy, friend.
While you’re here, on my website, you’re my guest. I am honored to have you here. I will always abide by the law (well, US Law, I couldn’t speak for the laws of other countries) and respect your privacy while you are here.
To be good at marketing, you need to know your audience. I’d like to get to know you. Mostly, I am interested in your name, email address, and business’ name. I don’t do creepy things to get that information. I use Google Analytics to track my site’s performance, a few sign-up forms, Sendfox (for email), and some cookies. Sometimes they collect more information than I need. If you would like me to remove your information, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
I share what I consider to be a lot of information on my site. Please don’t steal it. If you would like to use it, let me know. We can probably work something out so that you can share it too. That makes the internet a better place.
Sometimes, I use affiliate links to products. That means I get money if you purchase via those links. Both the Federal Trade Commission and I believe you should have the right to choose whether I should benefit from you using those links. Therefore, I’ll let you know if I am using an affiliate link.
I don’t knowingly collect information on minors. That would be creepy unless I was a toy manufacturer. It would probably be creepy even if I was a toy manufacturer. However, if a minor comes to this site, it’s possible that their data could be collected. If that happens, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I’ll get rid of it. Parents, try not to spy on your kids, but make them comfortable telling you where they go on the internet and give them guidance. It’s a weird world, and some people are nasty.
I do my best to keep my data secure. If a breach occurs, I will notify my audience.
If you have any questions or concerns, let me know: email@example.com.
